Why in the f–k did I not buy some Google stock?
Oh yeah, I didn’t have any disposable income.
I’ve been over this at least once before :
In one of the largest breaches of data security to date, CitiFinancial, the consumer finance subsidiary of Citigroup, announced yesterday that a box of computer tapes containing information on 3.9 million customers was lost by United Parcel Service last month, while in transit to a credit reporting agency.
Although this was not reported as a theft, I bet a dollar to donuts that is was.
The list of giant institutions who have lost personal data on their customers just keeps getting longer and longer. It will not stop anytime soon.
But, alas, so it is:
“Yes, it’s true,” Jobs said. “We are transitioning from PowerPC to Intel processors.”
The transition to Intel will take two years. Jobs said Apple will be shipping Intel-powered Macs in mid-2006, with higher-end machines following a year later.
I would think the recent story of laptops outselling desktops for the first time ever may have something to do with the decision. Or, more likely, there was no decision. To stay competitive in the growing laptop space, Intel is currently tho only real choice.
Count me in as being one of those who think the price of oil is being artificially inflated by some talented manipulators. Here is a little evidence in support of my position:
The frenzied $8.23 jump in just nine days of trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange to close at $55.03 comes at a time of relative calm in the physical oil market. There are no hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico, no strikes in Nigeria and no major outages in Iraq.
In fact, U.S. inventories of both crude oil and gasoline are up. That’s why some analysts find oil’s bullish price pivot so vexing.
A good idea:
WASHINGTON — The Internet’s primary oversight body has approved a plan to create a virtual red-light district, setting the stage for pornographic Web sites to use new addresses ending in “xxx.”
The drawback, the xxx domain for porn is not mandatory. That would be too much like a real solution.
More bad news for American car makers:
EVEN as they fall further behind their Japanese rivals, America’s carmakers must worry about a new rival driving faster into their backyard: Hyundai Motor. Not long ago, the South Korean firm’s cheap and unreliable imports delighted America’s comedians rather than its customers. But Hyundai has rapidly improved the quality of its vehicles, which now win rave reviews. On May 20th the firm opened its first factory in America.
Some of those Hyundai sedans, especially the shiny black ones with the modest chrome trim package, are quite attractive. I would consider buying any car that has been rated as “the most reliable car in America, JD Power,”
