Comrade Minister, we are out of caviar!
Its a good thing the Russian’s are so safety conscious or a lot of innocent civilians could get hurt:
Authorities have confiscated three tons of illegal black caviar that might pose a health hazard and was headed for the shelves of Moscow supermarkets, police and prosecutors said Thursday.
It seems the police were able to spot the illicit caviar by a typo on the label–the brand name was mis-spelled. D’Oh! You really got to pay attention to the detail on these criminal ventures. Its like riding around without a seat belt while carrying 100 pounds of dope in the trunk.
But Perekryostok spokesman Alexander Barkhatov disputed the claim that the caviar was removed because it was unfit for consumption. “It doesn’t mean that it’s dangerous or of low quality,” he said. “It just means it might have come from a dodgy distributor.”
But then again, perhaps all the government snack bars and official dachas were just running low.
