ND6 Upgrade

Filed under: TheGarage — admin @ 10:57 pm

I have been going for about 36 hours since Friday night. I downloaded the Domino Enterprise for evaluation and demonstration purposses as well as the WebSphere Portal for Linux. I built a test server as an upgrade on an old R5 server running on Win 98. Not a hitch.

Then I installed the Notes, designer, and administration clients on a test workstation. Again, a pretty clean install.

Installing 6.5 on my way-underpowered Win NT webserver was not so easy. Could never get the cabs to unpack properly, kept getting an error writing from the buffers or something, so I installed it remotely. Installing the files remotely went smoothly, although a bit slower than locally.

For some reason, the way I installed on the NT machine caused the SetupDomWizard not to work. Oh well. I guess the old fashioned way. I made a new replica of my names.nsf, copied it over the network to the \data directry, copied the Notes.ini file over, edited the Notes.ini file to point to all the proper locations and id files, and shazam!

Trying to get incoming mail to route now…. will keep posted
