Dell Computer

Filed under: Business — admin @ 1:00 am

I always thought Dell had it going on. I mean, Mike was building computers
in his dorm room at about the time I was puking on somebody’s shoes after
being asked to leave a frat party. I admire that type of industriousness.

I recently completed a three year lease purchase of two computers from
Dell. One was a nice workstation and one I used as a small web server.
Imagine my shock when I was informed that I should have read the small
print. Because I didn’t notify them of what my intentions were when the
lease came to end, they automatically re-up’d me on a month to month lease.

What the fuck is up with that? I just finished paying Dell way more than
the computers were worth due to interest and all. I didn’t find their award
winning technical support all that great (I chose to replace a hard drive
out of pocket rather than screw around with their stupid procedures), and
now, due to the old small print fallback, I have paid 3 months more than
I needed. Not only that, their buy-out is way overpriced since you can
hardly give away 3 year old computers.

I mean, is shipping all the stuff back in the original condition and packaging
really an option? Who can save all that stuff?

I don’t think a shanghai constitutes good customer service. For some reason,
I thought they would inform me on the regular monthly reminder, sent as
a courtesy, that I had been getting for three years reminding me that money
is due. No such luck. Silly me.

Alright. You got me on the small print. You got me for about $400 extra
on the lease. But here is the catch, I will never buy another Dell product
again. Ever. Never Ever.

Is this just more corporate greed? Really, I am asking cuz I want to know.
